In 2008, J and I set off overseas for ten months to see as much as we could!
We started in South East Asia and China before flying to Vancouver to explore the Americas while throwing in some spanish lessons and a test match in the Caribbean!
After we made it through South America, it was off to Oktoberfest and Europe to catch up with friends. It was then time to head homeward with stops in the Middle East and Thailand on the way home before exploring some of Australia’s red center
3 Feb: Melbourne, Australia – Gold Coast, Australia
7 Feb: Gold Coast, Australia – Bangkok, Thailand. Overland through Laos, Vietnam and China to Hong Kong
31 Mar: Hong Kong – Vancouver, Canada
3 Apr: Vancouver, Canada – Seattle, USA by bus
5 Apr: Seattle, USA – San Francisco, USA
8 Apr: San Francisco, USA – Las Vegas, USA
12 Apr: Las Vegas, USA – Miami, USA. From here we start our 7 day cruise of the Eastern Caribbean visiting Turks and Caicos, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico
19 Apr: Miami, USA – Guatemala City, Guatemala. After finishing the cruise we fly to Guatemala for 6 weeks of travel and spanish classes. Also travelled around Mexico and Belize.
31 May: Guatemala City, Guatemala – Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago
9 Jun: Tobago – Barbados. Here to watch the Australia vs West Indies test match
17 Jun: Barbados – Georgetown, Guyana. Our entry point to South America. From here travel through Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana and then south through Brazil
8 Jul: Start Tucan tour in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 4 weeks travelling through Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia
3 Aug: Finish tour early in Uyuni, Bolivia. Travelled down to Argentina and Chile
16 Sept: Buenos Aires, Argentina – London, UK. With a quick trip to Cornwall thrown in for Sharon
23 Sept: London, UK – Munich, Germany. Oktoberfest!
26 Sept: Munich, Germany – Berlin, Germany
28 Sept: Berlin, Germany – Rome, Italy
1 Oct: Rome, Italy – Paris, France
4 Oct: Paris, France – Mechelen, Belgium. Visiting Tom
9 Oct: Mechelen, Belgium – Amsterdam, Netherlands. Amsterdam 08!
12 Oct: Amsterdam, Netherlands – Dublin, Ireland. A few days in Dublin and a “Paddywagon” tour around Ireland and Northern Island
20 Oct: Dublin, Ireland – Manchester, UK
21 Oct: Manchester, UK – Tel Aviv, Israel
31 Oct: Tel Aviv, Israel – Amman, Jordan
3 Nov: Amman, Jordan – Bangkok, Thailand
6 Nov: Bangkok, Thailand – Melbourne, Australia
27 Nov: Melbourne, Australia – Alice Springs, Australia. A quick trip to Central Australia, the Outback and Uluru
29 Nov: Alice Springs, Australia – Melbourne, Australia
6 Dec: Melbourne, Australia – Adelaide, Australia. Sharon takes off with her brother and sister to explore the South Australian Outback and Coober Pedy.
