Singapore is a fabulous place to visit – we love it! This is our Singapore travel blog.
Singapore is a pretty, clean, very modern city packed full of attractions for families, singles, couples, whoever. There is a great transportation system to get around, and I really don’t think that family travel comes easier than this, especially if you stay somewhere incredible like the Hotel Fort Canning. You can also read our list of the top 10 family hotels in Singapore.
The people are lovely and helpful, although they are so used to foreigners that our kids didn’t get much attention, like they did in surrounding countries which is both good and bad. Good, because they don’t always enjoy the attention, and bad because the attention, at times like meal times in particular, can often make our lives a lot easier as they help entertain the kids. No one even took a second look at our little ginger ninja.
Maxwell Road Food Center – one of many hawker centres full of great food
Singapore is renowned for its food, and there are many options. It is good value, and you are sure to find something to make even the fussiest toddler smile. They also are very strict with hygiene controls in Singapore. Everywhere, even food stalls, has certificates up with their hygiene rating, so if you are worried about that aspect of family travel then Singapore could be perfect for you.
There are so many attractions, that I think you could spend weeks in Singapore with something to do every day. There are zoos, theme parks, water parks, park parks, everything a kid could want. You can read our list of 43 things to do with kids in Singapore in our complete guide to Singapore with kids along with some Singapore travel tips.
Far East Organization Children’s Garden at the awesome Gardens by the Bay
Baby products are easy to find, there were even nappies big enough for my 20kg toddler. There is everything you could need. Strollers work very well and we took ours around without a problem.
The only drawback to all this awesomeness? The price tag. Although it is cheaper than Australia, it is a lot more expensive than neighbouring countries. Attractions add up fast and accommodation is not the bargain it is over the causeway in Malaysia. This would make me hesitate to come back over options like Malaysia, but if money is not an issue, you would be crazy not to pick Singapore for your next family trip :)
Singapore is full of top rated accommodation and you won’t have trouble finding something – although expect the price tag to be higher than in surrounding countries. Here’s some hotels which we have particularly enjoyed:
