Thinking about going to Brunei? You have come to the right place! This is my Brunei travel blog.
I visited Brunei earlier this year. I was crazy enough to fly all the way to Brunei for a three day break from Australia. It is not the usual destination for most solo Australians, and was I disappointed? Not at all. This is the perfect destination for a short break, and I had a fabulous time.
Three days is the perfect length of time to check out the sights of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital, before heading into the pristine rainforests of Brunei. Both places were interesting. Bandar Seri Begawan is quite an understated city. You will never believe you are in one of the richest countries in the world. It is also a lovely place to just stroll around and I felt at ease and safe the whole time. It’s blissfully crowd free with great footpaths and facilities. I was always made to feel welcome.
The rainforest in Brunei is just amazing. It is very accessible for tourists on a short stay and I loved checking it out and having some adventure while also enjoying the luxuries of home, being comfortable and very close to civilisation. It is perfect for people who want the rainforest experience without having to slum it or be uncomfortable (although I am sure you can do this if you wish!).
I did not take my kids on this adventure but I would not hesitate to take them to Brunei if the opportunity presents itself again.
All in all, I had a great time and I recommend a short stopover in Brunei if you are ever lucky enough to get the chance. Check out my Brunei travel blog posts below or start with my guide to how to have the perfect stopover in Brunei.
