India is a country which seems to evoke either love or hate emotions in travellers. I felt both at numerous times but, overall, it was a country that I liked. There was much to love and it truly is a beautiful country. However, it is also a country literally filled with rubbish, sewage and a lot of hassle at times.
There are some amazing sites and experiences. From the world renowned Taj Mahal, to exploring the River Ganges (watch out that you don’t see a dead body float past!), visiting the home of the Dalai Lama to the amazing Golden Temple and whacky Pakistan border closing ceremony. There are also so many lesser known attractions which are just amazing. I loved exploring Rajasthan and such places as Udaipur, Pushkar, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and many more.
If nothing else, India is a land of contrasts – bright saris in filthy streets, beautiful palaces surrounded by squalor, five star hotels next to slums. This is both its beauty and its downfall. India really is a destination you should check out for yourself.
